Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I worked as an airplane mechanic, flight attendant instructor, automotive mechanic and insurance adjuster. While these careers were rewarding in their own ways, they left me searching for deeper purpose. My background in mechanical systems was an unexpected preparation for nursing: teaching me that separate systems work together to keep the whole functioning, and when one system breaks down or becomes overwhelmed, it affects the others - much like the human body and mind.
Today, I find fulfillment in helping others navigate their path toward wellness. I have provided psychiatric medication management and brief therapy in residential, inpatient, and outpatient settings, with a primary focus on working with children, adolescents, and autistic individuals of all ages.
